A man dressed as Santa Claus has been pepper sprayed and restrained in a dramatic incident outside a Bunnings store. The scene unfolded at the retail giants Frankston outlet in Melbournes south after the man was allegedly acting erratically and refusing to leave the store.

The scene unfolded at the retail giant’s Frankston outlet in Melbourne’s south after the man was allegedly acting erratically and refusing to leave the store.

Victoria Police said an altercation with officers ensued.

“Police were called to a business on McMahons Road, Frankston about 1pm after reports of a man behaving erratically. The man was asked to leave by staff but refused,” a statement read.

“Officers were forced to escort the man off the premises but he resisted officers and assaulted them.”Dressed in full costume, complete with boots and a belt, the man was seen laying on the ground surrounded by officers.

He was later taken to hospital after being doused in pepper spray.

Investigations are ongoing.
